Land of Temples: Where Parashurama, Krishna & Balarama Walked

Thus Goa is Divine Land (Deva Bhoomi) where Lord Parasurama, Shri Krishna and Balarama lived. Parasurama brought Dasha Gotri (ten gotras) Acharyas to perform Yajna and performed several Yajnas and made this as sacred land. He made this land an abode of highly cultural society which gave room for coming up a number of temples, hence a land of temples. It is often said that the holy ashes (vibhuti) of the Yajna’s performed are still available in Goa on the costal side of Pernem Taluka. The same is evidenced by white / grey matter in the soil during digging or excavation even till date.

Shri Krishna is having a name “GopalaChoodamani”. These brothers and their group of army lived in the place which is named as “Choodamani” in Gomantak, later it is called as “Chodan”.

At present to reach Chodan, we have to cross ferry near Raibander to cross Mandovi river. All our deities migrated to Marcel from Chodan as mentioned. These deities travelled from Chodan, Mayewade, and then Orgao in Marcel the present location.

Gomantak: The Land of Temples & Divine Heritage

Shri Krishna and Balarama while leaving from Mathura might have brought the idol in the form of child with four arms which was worshipped by their mother Devki. The people wanted to worship Krishna, installed the idol of child Krishna sitting on the lap of Devki and retained four armed Baalkrishna as Utsava Murti – to carry it in palkhi on festive Occasions.

Similarly warriors like Ravanath both of them with four arms with sword, shoola etc, in hand and sitting on horse were also treated as god and built temple and worshipped them. Similarly Mallinatha holding Maladanda and Kamandalu in his hand also in the group of Shri Krishna as warrior could be army teacher. He has also a temple in the Village in his name called Mallinatwada in Chodan and
Marcel. It is also belivied that he is incarnation of Lord Dattatreya.

Daadsaakhal & the Divine Assembly of Marcel

Daadsaakhal resembles the role model narrated with regard to Balarama in Harivansha purana and comparing with idol we see in Marcel holding musala (mace like weapon) it is assumed he be an incarnation of Balarama. Thus when we analyse the deities in Marcel with reference to Shri Bhaagavat Puran and Harivansh  puran we find the entire family of Lord Shri Krishna lived in Chodan or Mayevada or Vargaon Marcel. We have earlier mentioned two Ravalnaths who are his Army chiefs as incarnation of Hanuman and Garuda. Both of them were disciples of Shri Vishnu. Lord Shiva is also the great disciple of Mahavishnu as per Vishnu Sahasranama.
